Yi Yi Li, female, born in Beijing in October 1933, is a leading figure in the field of metallurgy and metallic materials, a major academic leader in the field of low-temperature and nuclear structural materials in China, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a member of the Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries, a researcher and doctoral supervisor of the Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Yi Yi Li is mainly engaged in the research of new materials, phase change work, development of hydrogen-resistant alloys, relationship between preparation and microstructure of engineering materials, and visualization of preparation techniques for large castings and forgings. She has completed six series of strength level hydrogen-resistant steels and alloys and made pioneering contributions to the research of low-temperature and high-pressure, hydrogen-brittle-resistant alloys in China; she has developed more than ten alloys such as Fe-Ni-Cr, Fe-Mn-Al, TiAl and TiNi.

Academician Yi Yi Li and her husband, academician Ke Wei of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, are "husband and wife academicians". Ke Wei's elder brother, Ke Jun, is a famous metal material scientist in China and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The three academicians in one family have become a good story. Academician Li Yi Yi visited Suzhou Shuangjin and expressed her affirmation of the achievements made by Suzhou Shuangjin in the special steel industry in the past 27 years.
